IPL 2026: ‘Complete package’ – Faf du Plessis on KKR’s marquee signing Cameron Green
Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis hailed Kolkata Knight Riders’ marquee signing Cameron Green. Du Plessis believes Green can play a key role for KKR in IPL 2026, especially after Andre Russell announced his retirement.
Speaking on JioHotstar, du Plessis explained why Green is the ideal replacement for Russell. He said, “Cameron Green is a highly talented guy who has a lot of potential in him to succeed. He is the multi-skilled marquee buy for KKR and the replacement for Andre Russell. Green is six-foot tall, a massive guy, he bowls well, has a good bouncer and Yorker, can hit the ball out of the stadium easily and is a proper batter.”
KKR acquired Green for INR 25.20 crore during the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi. He became the most expensive overseas player in IPL history. He has also represented Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru(RCB) earlier. So far, Green has featured in 29 IPL matches, scoring 707 runs at an average of 41.58 and a strike rate of 153.63, along with 16 wickets.
Du Plessis also said that Green brings balance to the side. “In short, he is a complete package. He balances KKR’s team very well. In terms of IPL cricket, Green has a lot of potential. But form has not been on his side recently. With a price tag of INR 25.2 crores, there is big price tag pressure he will carry. There is a lot of weight on his shoulders. The team will expect a lot from him. It will be interesting to see how he goes,” heexplained.
KKR will face five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians in their tournament opener on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
