“The stand belongs to all the women”: Harmanpreet on new “Pink Stand” initiative
India women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur shared her thoughts after Omaxe Limited unveiled the country’s first dedicated ‘Pink Stand’ in the upcoming cricket stadium in Dwarka, Delhi. The initiative focuses on providing a safer and more comfortable experience for women spectators in Indian stadiums.
Speaking to ANI during the launch, Harmanpreet expressed her happiness about the initiative and said, “I am feeling very good. The stand belongs to all the women. It is a great feeling. I thank Omaxe.”
The initiative was taken after India’s women’s historic win. Under Harmanpreet’s captaincy, India lifted their maiden ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup title in November 2025. The captain played a crucial role in India’s triumph as she not only led her side brilliantly but also scored 260 runs from eight innings, which included a match-winning 89 runs in the semi-final against Australia.
Harmanpreet also spoke about the upcoming South Africa tour, consisting of five T20Is ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup in England. “That was the reason behind it before the World Cup, if we can go and play some matches in South Africa. Hopefully, this tour will tick all the boxes that we as a team are taking there.”
Omaxe Managing Director Mohit Goel opened up about the idea behind the dedicated stand. “When I saw her taking that catch and winning the World Cup on 2nd November, we were contemplating and thinking how we can give back to her and give back to women’s cricket and all throughout the country. So that’s when we thought, let’s make a pink stand so that women should feel secure and absolutely safe while watching the match, and they can enjoy, and they don’t have to worry about anything else,” Goel revealed.
