Nitish Kumar Reddy delivered an all-round performance to help Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) register their first win of IPL 2026. SRH defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at their home ground- Eden Gardens by 65 runs on April 2.

During the post-match presentation, Reddy reflected on his performance and said, “It’s the match-winning performance I had been waiting for for a long time. Thankfully, it came at the right time, and even my bowling has given me confidence. I’m just trying to stay positive.”

Reddy made a solid contribution with the bat, adding 39 runs off 24 balls, including four boundaries and a six, at a strike rate of 162.50. He also built a crucial 82-run partnership with Heinrich Klaassen (52), which ensured SRH posted a massive total of 226/8.

With the ball, the 22-year-old picked up two crucial wickets while conceding 17 runs in two overs. He first dismissed Anukul Roy for a duck and then removed KKR’s in-form vice-captain, Rinku Singh (35). His impressive performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

Reddy also opened up about the challenges he faced last season.

“There were too many negative thoughts in my mind because last season didn’t go my way and I couldn’t bowl,” he said during the post-match presentation ceremony. “I’ve worked really hard on my bowling and it’s paying off, which really makes me happy. I’m grateful to the trainers and physios, my body is fully fit now.”

SRH will next face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 5 in Hyderabad.
