MCA honours Mumbai Cricket Excellence at Grand Awards Night
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) organised a grand awards समारोह in Mumbai on Wednesday, recognising excellence across the 2024–25 and 2025–26 seasons while honouring performers who continue to shape the city’s strong cricketing legacy and inspire future generations.
The event saw the presence of former India cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rajeev Kulkarni and Diana Edulji, along with Cabinet Ministers Ashish Shelar and Aditi Tatkare, and MCA President Ajinkya Naik. MCA Apex Council Members, Office Bearers, and players also attended, highlighting the depth and unity of Mumbai’s cricket structure.
At the senior level, standout performances were recognised with Siddhesh Lad and Shardul Thakur receiving the Justice Tendolkar Trophy for Best Senior Cricketer for the 2025–26 and 2024–25 seasons, respectively, for their significant contributions.
Highlighting Mumbai’s role in Indian cricket, the MCA also honoured Ayush Mhatre, captain of the Under-19 Men’s World Cup-winning team, along with several Mumbai-based players and coaches involved in India’s recent World Cup successes. These included Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube from the Men’s T20 World Cup-winning squad; Sanika Chalke from the Under-19 Women’s World Cup-winning team; Abhigyan Kundu from the Under-19 Men’s World Cup side; and Jemimah Rodrigues, Amol Muzumdar, and Aavishkar Salvi from the Women’s World Cup-winning group, showcasing the city’s continued impact at the national level.
Mumbai’s dominance in domestic cricket during the 2024–25 season was further acknowledged as MCA honoured its title-winning teams across formats and age groups. These included triumphs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, Under-14 West Zone Championship, Under-23 Women’s One-Day Trophy, Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16), and the Women’s Under-15 One-Day Trophy, underlining sustained success across competitions.
The association also continued its focus on developing young talent through the Sharad Pawar Scholarships. The 2024–25 recipients were Naman Pushpak, Neeraj Dhumal, Shaurya Rai, Sanmaya Upadhyay, Ira Jadhav, and Yayati Gawad, while the 2025–26 awards went to Shreyas Khilare, Rajveer Lad, Vedant Gore, Vansh Chumble, Siddhi Kamte, Ritika Yadav, Unnati Patil, and Mudra Khedekar.
Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Shobha Pandit (Cricketer) and Shrikant Tigdi (Administrator) for 2025–26, and to Chandrakant Patankar (Cricketer) and Ravindra Savant (Administrator) for 2024–25, recognising their long-standing contributions to Mumbai cricket.
Speaking on the occasion, MCA President Ajinkya Naik said, “This evening stands as a powerful testament to the standards Mumbai cricket sets for itself, uncompromising excellence, built on legacy and driven by relentless ambition. These achievements are not just milestones, but benchmarks for the future. The MCA Awards celebrated achievement, legacy, and ambition, bringing together key figures of Mumbai cricket under one roof.
