Rajasthan Royals openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took charge in style, adding a crucial 69-run stand in the powerplay. Both batters played with fearless intent and displayed plenty of aggression, dominating bowlers like Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj with one attacking stroke after another. As per TOI, the duo also became the fastest Indian pair to reach 500 partnership runs in the IPL in just 248 balls, surpassing Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag’s previous record of 300 runs. Jaiswal struck a brisk 55 runs before Rabada eventually dismissed him, while Vaibhav, on the other hand, scored 31 runs at a strike rate of 172.

 

Dhruv Jurel’s first half-century against GT:

Walking in at number 3, Dhruv Jurel shone in his new role with a commanding half-century against Gujarat Titans, reaching the milestone in 31 balls. Displaying fluent stroke play, composure, and timely aggression, he batted at a strike rate of 178, smashing five fours and five sixes. With Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer and Donovan Ferreira failing to fire in the middle order, Jurel ensured the scoreboard kept ticking.

 

Ashok Sharma’s pace lights up IPL:

The 23-year-old bowler from Rajasthan delivered the fastest ball in IPL 2026 so far. As mentioned on the broadcast, he made headlines by clocking a delivery at 154.2 km/h. The young pacer has shown signs of promise in his first two matches with Gujarat Titans, often troubling batters with his pace. He also picked up a crucial wicket, dismissing the dangerous Shimron Hetmyer.

 

Shubman Gill ruled out of match vs RR due to muscle spasm:

GT captain Shubman Gill ruled himself out of the game due to a relapse of an old muscle injury. In his place, young domestic talent from Jharkhand, Kumar Kushagra, opened alongside Sai Sudarshan. Their partnership was a display of classy shots and well-calculated stroke play. The RR bowlers were met with elegant drives and methodical batting, as the duo stitched together a 78-run opening partnership. Sudarshan went on to score 73 runs off 44 balls before being dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi in the 11th over.

 

Bishnoi strikes:

Ravi Bishnoi delivered a match-defining spell in just his second outing of the season. The leg-spinner looked far more in control, picking up four crucial wickets and completely dismantling the middle order. He dismissed key batters like Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia, while also being involved in a dramatic run-out of Shahrukh Khan. This spell now stands as Bishnoi’s best figures in the IPL.

In the end, despite a strong fightback from Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada, Tushar Deshpande’s brilliance in the final over, with back-to-back yorkers, sealed the game for Rajasthan Royals.
