SRH chase down 228 as Sooryavanshi’s century goes in vain

Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Despite RR putting up a target of 228, powered by a Vaibhav Sooryavanshi century, the SRH batters chased it down in no time.
Here are some of the highlights from the match:
Vaibhav dominates Powerplay
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi put up a breathtaking show in the powerplay with a mix of raw power and sharp game awareness. The 15-year-old raced to a stunning half-century in just 15 balls. Vaibhav’s boundaries put the opposition under pressure and set up a score of 77 on the scoreboard at the end of the powerplay. Despite being dropped by Aniket Varma, he capitalised fully, etching his name in history as the youngest player (15 years) to reach 1000 T20 runs. He races to his ton in 36 balls.
Pat Cummins returns as SRH Captain
SRH captain Pat Cummins was sidelined due to injury which had kept him away from competitive cricket for approximately four months. He missed the first half of IPL during which, Ishan Kishan made an excellent impact with the captaincy in his absence. Despite making a comeback after long spell on the sidelines, he pulled off a brilliant four-over spell including a peach of a yorker which cleaned up RR captain, Riyan Parag. He finished with an economy of 6.75 – the lowest among all the bowlers on a track which was a batter’s paradise.
Ishan-Abhishek lay the foundation for SRH
Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to an outstanding start, riding on a commanding partnership between Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma. After Travis Head fell early to a brilliant delivery from Jofra Archer in the first over, the duo stitched a crucial 132-run stand, shifting momentum firmly in SRH’s favour. Ishan’s precise gap-finding and elegant down-the-ground strokes complemented Abhishek’s power-hitting and smart placement. A few dropped catches further dented RR’s chances as SRH cruised closer to the target. Abhishek put up 57 runs off 29 balls on the scoreboard and Ishan managed 74 runs off 31 balls. He got dismissed due to Archer’s excellent hard length delivery which was followed by an stunning catch from Donovan Ferrara.
Archer’s fiery spell
Jofra Archer delivered a standout spell for Rajasthan Royals, consistently bowling disciplined Test match lengths right from the outset. He extracted significant movement and swing, troubling the batters consistently. Archer struck crucial early blows, dismissing Travis Head and then giving the major breakthrough with the Ishan Kishan wicket. In the over where he removed Kishan, he conceded just one run, showcasing tight control. Amid a high-scoring game, he stood out with an impressive economy of 8.5.
