IPL 2026: DC Hold Nerve at Home in Thriller as RR’s Losing Streak Continues

DC vs RR (PC-BCCI)

Delhi Capitals returned to winning ways at home, although their comeback may have come a little too late in the season as regards their playoff hopes. Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, are still alive in the playoff race despite the defeat. DC won the toss and opted to bowl first, with RR posting a competitive total of 194. In reply, DC chased down the target comfortably with four balls to spare after strong contributions from the top order and a composed finish in the chase.

Sooryavanshi, Jurel and Parag power RR after early Jaiswal exit

Yashasvi Jaiswal started aggressively with three early boundaries but was dismissed for 12 off nine balls by Lungi Ngidi. RR, however, continued their attacking approach through Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed 46 off just 21 balls with five fours and three sixes. The youngster took on both Ngidi and Mitchell Starc confidently and also attacked spinner Tripurana Vijay during the powerplay.

After Sooryavanshi fell, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel steadied the innings with a crucial partnership. Parag played a captain’s knock of 51 off 26 balls, hitting five sixes and three fours, while targeting Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel in the middle overs. Jurel anchored the innings with a cautious 53 off 40 deliveries, adding important boundaries against Mukesh and Madhav Tiwari. Their partnership helped RR recover strongly and maintain the scoring rate after the early loss of Jaiswal.

Starc, Ngidi and Madhav fuel DC fightback

Starc, Ngidi and Tiwari played key roles in DC’s comeback after RR’s strong start. Starc was expensive early on as Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi attacked him, but he bounced back brilliantly later. He dismissed Parag, Donovan Ferreira, Ravi Singh and Dasun Shanaka to finish with 4/40.

Ngidi gave DC the early breakthrough by removing Jaiswal and later dismissed Jurel. Tiwari also made a big impact by dismissing Sooryavanshi for 46 and Shubham Dubey, ending with 2/27. Axar kept things tight in the middle overs, while Vijay and Mukesh Kumar were expensive and were targeted by RR’s batters.

Rahul and Porel dominate with 105-Run opening stand

KL Rahul and Abishek Porel gave DC a superb start with a 105-run opening partnership. Rahul balanced control with aggression, playing elegant strokes and big straight hits while targeting Dasun Shanaka and Yash Raj Punja. He also brought up the 100-run stand with a huge six.

Porel was the aggressor, smashing 51 off 31 balls with seven fours and a six. He attacked Jofra Archer early and later took on Brijesh Sharma and Shanaka with ramps, cuts and pulls. RR struggled to stop the flow of runs before Brijesh finally broke the stand by dismissing Porel soon after his fourth IPL fifty.

Despite the strong start, RR bowlers kept fighting. Archer returned strongly after an expensive opening spell to dismiss Sahil Parakh, Yash Raj Punja kept things tight in the middle overs, and Brijesh Sharma delivered the key breakthrough with Porel’s wicket.

Ashutosh hits the winning runs for DC

Rahul laid the foundation for DC with a brilliant 56 off 42 balls, but the game still went down to the wire after wickets of Sahil Parakh, Tristan Stubbs and David Miller gave RR hope late in the chase. With the pressure rising, Ashutosh Sharma stepped up calmly alongside Axar in the final overs.
Things became even tougher for RR in the final over as they were penalised for a slow over rate, which meant they were allowed to keep only four fielders outside the circle. DC took advantage of the situation, with Ashutosh finishing the chase in style.

Ashutosh changed the momentum with a massive six off Brijesh Sharma over deep midwicket and then handled the tense finish brilliantly. He followed it up with a boundary off Adam Milne at the start of the final over before sealing the match in style with a powerful pull for six over deep midwicket. His late cameo ensured DC crossed the line comfortably despite RR’s late fightback.
