Delhi Capitals (DC) youngster Madhav Tiwari delivered a brilliant all-round performance to help his side secure a stunning three-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their IPL 2026 clash in Dharamsala on May 11.

During the post-match presentation, Madhav acknowledged the management for taking a chance on him. “I would like to thank the management for giving me this opportunity,” he said. “Lucky enough to be on the winning side. The mindset is that if things are not in your hands, you try to get better in each practice session. I worked a lot on my bowling and my range-hitting with my batting coach. It was fun, and I am happy that I was able to contribute to the team.”

The 22-year-old was playing his first match of the season. He was bought by Delhi in the 2025 mega auction for ₹40 lakh and was retained for the 2026 season. In the first innings, he impressed with the ball by picking up the two crucial wickets of Punjab’s in-form batters, Priyansh Arya (56) and Cooper Connolly (36). He conceded 40 runs in his four overs at an economy rate of 10.00.

He also explained his role as an all-rounder while discussing his bowling plans for the game. “I would like to say I am a 100 per cent bowler and a 100 per cent batter,” Madhav said. “The wicket was helping the length balls, and I was sticking to that, mixing it up with wide balls and short balls in between. I was prepared. Conditions were supporting the fast bowlers. As Axar said, he would have probably bowled me out if I had conceded runs in my first over. Lucky to bowl my full quota of four overs for the team. Our batting coach told me that I have the power and asked me not to do anything fancy — just hold my shape.”

While chasing a huge target of 211, Delhi slipped to 74/4 inside nine overs, but Madhav played a stunning cameo of 18 runs off just eight balls, including two fours and a six, at a strike rate of 225.00. His impressive all-round performance earned player of the match award.

With this win, Delhi have moved to seventh position on the points table with five wins from 12 matches. They will next face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 17 in Delhi.
