Australia’s selection committee has announced its 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales, beginning on June 12, with Sophie Molineux set to lead the side as captain alongside deputies Ashleigh Gardner and Tahlia McGrath.

Young left-arm pacer Lucy Hamilton earned her maiden T20 World Cup call-up after an impressive international debut earlier this year. The 20-year-old secured her place ahead of fellow fast bowler Darcie Brown, who missed out after going wicketless during Australia’s recent white-ball tour of the West Indies.

In an official statement, national selector Shawn Flegler said, “Darcie Brown was unlucky to miss out but the decision was based on the conditions we’re expecting and the make-up of the side.” He further added, “With at least six right-arm pace options in the mix and raw pace expected to be less effective, we opted to go with Lucy Hamilton, who offers something different as a left-arm quick.”

The squad will also mark the return of Grace Harris and Annabel Sutherland, while experienced players Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Kim Garth and Megan Schutt retained their places. Nicola Carey will return for her first T20 World Cup appearance since 2020, while leg-spinner Alana King kept her place after an impressive series against the West Indies.

Speaking about the balance of the group, Flegler added, “These squads are never easy to select but we’re confident with the balance and stability we’ve got across the group.”

Squad: Sophie Molineux (c), Ashleigh Gardner (vc), Tahlia McGrath (vc), Nicola Carey, Kim Garth, Lucy Hamilton, Grace Harris, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Voll, Georgia Wareham.

Travelling reserve: Tahlia Wilson
