RCB CEO Backs Virat Kohli to Play for Four More Years

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) CEO Rajesh Menon is optimistic that Virat Kohli will continue representing the franchise for at least another four years, while hinting that his association with the team could continue even after his retirement from all forms of cricket.

Since the inception of the IPL, Kohli has been with RCB. He started as a player before becoming the franchise’s longest-serving captain, and he also holds the distinction of having scored the most runs and made the most appearances for the franchise. Kohli is deeply attached to RCB and has, on many occasions, said that he will play for the franchise until retirement. Even at 37, Kohli looks as fit as ever.

“RCB and Virat are different sides of the same coin,” Menon told CNBC-TV18. “He has been the constant factor for RCB throughout. We have never seen him not being part of RCB, and even if he moves on from his playing career, we will have to figure out how he remains associated with the franchise.”

Menon is confident that Kohli will continue playing for at least another three to four years and explained the reasons behind that belief.

“That said, over the next three to four years, I am sure he’ll be playing, for at least four years,” Menon affirmed. “He is fit, and the hunger never dies. You saw him this IPL season bringing the energy, the runs, the attitude. everything was there. Three to four years, absolutely no problem.”

Kohli played an all-important role in RCB’s back-to-back title wins over the last two seasons, scoring more than 600 runs. Currently, he is recovering from a hamstring injury that has kept him on the sidelines.
