Rohit–Kohli Script History at Lord’s with 400th International Appearance Together

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli created history at Lord’s on Sunday, becoming the first Indian pair to be a part of 400 international matches together. The landmark moment came during the series decider against England, adding yet another remarkable chapter to their journey as team-mates for India.

The duo had already set the record for the most international appearances by an Indian pair, going past the iconic partnership of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, who played 391 matches together.

Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene lead the global list with 550 appearances, followed by Tillakaratne Dilshan and Jayawardene with 426. Rohit and Kohli currently occupy seventh place on this elite chart, highlighting their consistency and longevity together.

The two stalwarts began their international careers almost at the same time. Rohit in 2007 and Kohli in 2008. Since then, the two have emerged as the pillars of Indian cricket for nearly two decades. Their contributions have been instrumental in India’s success across formats, including world titles.

Now retired from T20Is and Tests, both continue to represent India only in the ODI format. Kohli and Rohit also rank among India’s top run-scorers in the format, with 14,867 and 11,757 runs respectively, further highlighting their immense impact.
