Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Yuvraj Singh and Sanju Samson were among the Indian cricket stars at Centre Court for the Wimbledon men’s singles final between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev. While enjoying the atmosphere at the All England Club, Abhishek and Yuvraj shared their thoughts on the occasion, tennis and the next generation of sporting talent.

Speaking to Star Sports, Abhishek said it was a dream come true to be at Wimbledon, especially for the men’s singles final.

“It was actually one of my dreams to come here,” India’s T20I opener said. “And especially on such a special day, the final, that’s probably the cherry on top. Obviously, I’m just going to enjoy the match here. I’m just going to have my moment.”

Reflecting on his tennis inspirations, Abhishek recalled growing up admiring Rafael Nadal.

“I remember, even now, I think Rafael Nadal was one of those because he’s a left-hander as well,” he said. “He’s one of the rare left-handers, I would say, and one of the most successful in the sport. The way he trained, his attitude and the way he dominated, I think he was definitely one of them.”

He also praised the current generation of stars, saying their success motivates athletes beyond tennis.

“I think Alcaraz and Sinner, for sure, the way they are playing right now, they’ve been dominating. That’s what I always try to bring into my sport. I think the way they are performing in this sport is lovely to watch. It always inspires young cricketers, and I would say youngsters in all sports.”

In another video shared on Wimbledon’s official Instagram account, Yuvraj spoke about meeting Sooryavanshi for the first time and revealed the nickname he has given the teenage sensation.

“It feels great. It’s my first time meeting Vaibhav in person,” the former India all-rounder said. “I keep meeting Abhishek, but this is the first time I’ve met Vaibhav. I call him ‘Boss Baby’, and now everyone has started calling him that because he has become the boss.”
