ZIM vs IND: “This series will be very entertaining” – Sikandar Raza ahead of the India challenge

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza believes the upcoming three-match T20I series against India will be much closer than people expect. While India are hoping to bounce back after disappointing series against Ireland and England, Raza feels Zimbabwe have also been playing good cricket and are ready to challenge the visitors.

Speaking to Star Sports, Raza said both teams would fancy their chances. “Both countries will have an equal chance in this series,” the captain said. “But one thing I am very sure about is that, because Zimbabwe have been playing very consistent and very entertaining cricket, I can say for sure that this series will be very entertaining.”

Zimbabwe have delivered strong performances in T20I cricket over the past year. They defeated Australia at the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup and also registered wins over Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, which will give the team confidence ahead of the upcoming three-match series.

Raza also spoke about the new-look Indian side, saying: “Yes, India are going through a transition and, to some extent, you’ll see Zimbabwe are also going to have a little bit of transition happening as well. I don’t see it as a one-sided series.”

India last toured Zimbabwe in 2024, when they registered a 4-1 series win under the leadership of Shubman Gill. This time, the series begins on Thursday in Harare.
