BCCI Begins Search for New Junior Selection Panel Members

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for five vacancies on its Junior Cricket Committee, which will oversee the selection and development of India’s age-group teams.
The committee will be responsible for selecting squads up to the Under-22 level for training camps, as well as junior assignments against domestic and international teams. Its work will cover competitions and tours in India and abroad, with a key focus on identifying emerging players and building a strong pool of talent for the future.
Role of the Committee
The selected members will have several responsibilities, including:
• Selecting age-group squads through a fair and transparent process, while identifying promising players and strengthening India’s junior bench strength.
• Monitoring players during domestic and international matches and contributing to the selection of squads for camps, tournaments and tours.
• Selecting coaches and other support personnel, including physiotherapists, trainers, therapists, analysts and medical staff.
• Tracking the progress of junior teams and submitting regular assessments of their performances and development. The committee will also be responsible for appointing captains across different formats.
• Managing BCCI junior tournaments and overseas tours, along with handling administrative and disciplinary matters related to these competitions.
• Encouraging young cricketers to uphold high standards of conduct and educating them about issues such as doping, betting and match-fixing, with the help of current and former senior players.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• They must be former cricketers with at least 25 First-Class appearances.
• They must have retired from professional cricket at least five years ago.
• Individuals who have served on any BCCI Cricket Committee, as specified under the Board’s Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations, for a combined period of five years or more will not be eligible for appointment to the Junior Cricket Committee.
