Rinku Singh Makes Special World Cup Wish for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

India batter Rinku Singh wants Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to play in and be part of the 2027 World Cup-winning team, as it could be the last mega event for both former captains.

With age not on their side, it is largely expected that next year’s World Cup on the African continent could be the last for both Kohli and Rohit.

In recent months, there has been a lot of uncertainty around Rohit’s participation, given his fitness concerns and the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal in ODIs.

However, Rinku has expressed his desire to see Kohli and Rohit lift the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 trophy.

“They are legends, both Virat bhaiya and Rohit bhaiya,” Rinku said while speaking to JioStar. “Not just me, but the entire nation hopes that they play in the World Cup and are part of the team that goes on to win it. It would be a huge moment for the whole country, as who knows, it could be their last World Cup. So, it would be huge if they can win it for India. It would be huge for them as well, because we haven’t won the World Cup in a long time. We last won it in 2011. So, we hope both of them are with the team and that they lift that trophy.”

Rinku is not in the scheme of things for next year’s World Cup. The out-of-favour batter was not selected for the Asian Games or the Afghanistan T20I series. He did not even play in the Duleep Trophy or get considered for the Rest of India squad for the Irani Cup game.
