Sinalo Jafta ruled out of Zimbabwe T20I series, Jae-Leigh Filander earns maiden senior call-up

South Africa Women wicketkeeper-batter Sinalo Jafta has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe due to a hamstring strain.
Jafta sustained the injury during pre-season testing and has now been ruled out of the upcoming five-match T20I series in Zimbabwe.
However, her absence has opened the door for South Africa U19 Women star Jae-Leigh Filander, who has been named as her replacement. The youngster has now received her maiden senior call-up and will join the rest of the squad in Tshwane ahead of the team’s departure for Bulawayo on 7 September.
Filander was part of South Africa’s squad for the 2025 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia. She also featured in South Africa’s 2026 Youth T20I tour of Pakistan.
South Africa are currently holding a pre-tour camp at Irene Cricket Club from 2-6 September. This will be a historic series for the Proteas Women as they take on hosts Zimbabwe in their first-ever T20I series against them from 11-19 September.
All five games will be played at Queen’s Sports Club in Bulawayo.
Updated squad: Laura Wolvaardt (c), Anneke Bosch, Annerie Dercksen, Ayanda Hlubi, Jae-Leigh Filander, Eliz-Mari Marx, Karabo Meso, Seshnie Naidu, Nthabiseng Nini, Luyanda Nzuza, Kayla Reyneke, Nondumiso Shangase, Miané Smit, Faye Tunnicliffe and Caitlin Wyngaard
