Former India spinner Amit Mishra has joined Delhi Capitals as their spin-bowling coach ahead of IPL 2027. The franchise confirmed his appointment on October 21.

Mishra is the fourth new member to join the coaching staff, following Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and Chaminda Vaas.

It all started with Ganguly’s appointment as head coach, followed by Yuvraj Singh’s appointment as assistant coach and batting coach, and Vaas’s appointment as fast-bowling coach.

Speaking about his newfound role, Mishra recalled that he was part of DC (then Delhi Daredevils) in the inaugural IPL season. Now, he has landed his first coaching job in the cash-rich league with the same franchise, thanks to destiny.

“I don’t know about legends, but I did really decently in the IPL. Dilli dilwallon ki hai (Delhi belongs to people with big hearts). When the first season of the IPL was held, I was part of DC. Today, as I begin my coaching career, it is with DC again, and so I am very happy. A tiger is one who never leaves his prey. Dilli is my heartbeat. We will try to bring the happiness to Dilli fans that they have been waiting for all these years.”

Mishra called time on his playing career last year after establishing himself as one of the IPL’s most successful bowlers. The leg-spinner claimed 174 wickets in 162 appearances in the tournament, maintaining an economy rate of 7.37. At international level, he represented India in Tests, ODIs and T20Is between 2003 and 2017, playing 22 Tests, 36 ODIs and 10 T20Is.
