ENG vs SL: “No Value in My Eyes” — Dejected Brook on His Double Ton After Defeat in Rawalpindi

After losing the ODI match against Sri Lanka despite scoring a double century, England captain Harry Brook said that the knock meant nothing as his team failed to defend a total of 430 in Rawalpindi.

Brook smashed the fastest double century in the history of ODI cricket, becoming the first English batter to reach the milestone. His heroics took England to 429. Sri Lanka, however, chased down the target with one ball to spare, completing their biggest and the second-biggest run chase in the history of international cricket.

Speaking to the broadcasters after the match, a dejected Brook was asked about his innings, to which he responded:

“Unfortunately, it doesn’t mean anything now, being on the losing side. It has no value whatsoever in my eyes.”

Brook criticised the bowling group for their poor execution as they attempted to defend the record total.

“Yeah, we’ve got to go back to the drawing board a little bit,” Brook said. “No, we know where we’ve gone wrong. Unfortunately, we didn’t execute well enough with the ball.”

England will have to win both their remaining matches in the ongoing tri-series to qualify for the final.
