We have not been able to play the bowling line-up that we would like to: Shubman Gill on injuries

Shubman Gill spoke about India’s injury concerns and fielding after the 3rd ODI vs West Indies.
At the post-match press conference, Gill said that India were unable to play the bowling line-up they wanted due to the injuries and scheduling
“It’s been unfortunate with the injuries and the scheduling. We were unable to play the bowling line-up that we would like to, but at the same time, it’s something that is not in our hands. It’s a good chance for other players who might not have been in the team if the full-strength bowling line-up would have been there. It’s a great chance for them to showcase their skills.”
Gill also accepted that India’s fielding was not up to the mark.
“I think we dropped around three or four catches today, dropping three or four catches breaks the momentum of the team. Our fielding in the series has not been up to the mark. I think in the whole series, we dropped around seven catches, if I’m not wrong. Even in the field today, we gave away many runs. We were quite sloppy.”
He said that India need to improve in the fielding areas before the World Cup
“Leading up to the World Cup, these are the areas where we definitely need to get better. We need to be at the peak of our powers, especially when we are in the field. It’s not easy for the bowlers, so the fielders can help a lot.”
Gill also praised Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for their batting
“They’ve been batting really well, Rohit bhai, in the last four innings, he made a few hundreds, so he has been batting really well. So has Virat bhai. Whenever KL has got the chance, he has done the work for the team, put in the effort and batted brilliantly.”
Gill also spoke about Ravindra Jadeja not being in the playing XI in the 3rd ODI and said he was rested to give other players an opportunity
“Firstly, I don’t think Jaddu bhai was dropped. We rested him because we had an opportunity today to give game time to other players. When a series is only three matches long, it becomes very difficult to give experience to players sitting outside.”
